Carla & Nick

We met in college…

When deciding on where to go to college, these 2 kids from Florida & California settled on The Ohio State University. Not only did Ohio State provide them with educational opportunities, lifelong friends, and incredible experiences, it also became the setting for Nick and Carla to find each other. Among the extracurricular experiences Nick and Carla participated in, their shared organization was Student-Alumni Council. Nick joined two years after Carla and while she was serving on the Executive Board, she and Nick crossed paths in January of 2012. After a few dates, Nick asked Carla to be his girlfriend the day after his 21st birthday.

From there, their time was filled with nights out with friends, Ohio State events, fraternity socials, and of course, Ohio State football games. As luck would have it, their senior year football block tickets were one row apart, so they got to share many wins together.

As graduation approached, Nick accepted a job in Los Angeles and Carla got accepted to Ohio State’s Master of Education program. It seemed as though the gingers were destined for long distance. In July of 2013, Nick moved to LA and began his job while Carla started her Masters. In the year that followed, there were highs and lows, and even a brief time apart, but they found their way back to each other with the support of their families and friends.

During their time apart, Nick lived with Amelia, a friend and classmate from college, who was also in a long distance relationship with her now husband and Nick’s best friend, Ryan Geiger. Carla and Ryan made frequent visits over the years, solidifying their friendships and relationships. They also spent time traveling across the US, visiting cities and college campuses for Ohio State games.

In 2017, Nick got an opportunity with a company in Columbus and decided to move back to Ole Columbus Town. From there, the two finally experienced life as a “normal” couple. They called The Short North home and enjoyed frequent trips to Ohio State and other favorite spots around Columbus with some of their best friends.

In April of 2020, partially inspired by being home so much more due to quarantine, Nick and Carla decided to become dog parents to a mini Golden-doodle named Isabella Lea, or Izzie for short. Their little family grew by four paws and little Izzie is so excited to make an appearance on their big day!

On July 31st 2021, Carla and Nick officially tied the knot with a beautiful ceremony held in the one of a kind Ohio State House Rotunda surrounded by their friends and family. The went on to party all night long and danced the night away in the Atrium.
